The Palmer Divide does not just create weather - it creates its own weather. Monument sits directly on the ridge at 7,352 feet, where air is forced upward and storms build locally - sometimes independent of anything happening in Colorado Springs or Denver. Hail, wind, and heavy snow can hit Jackson Creek and Woodmoor with intensity while the communities fifteen miles in either direction see nothing. Monument homeowners weather more severe events per season than most Front Range communities. And because the storms are localized, damage two streets over does not predict what your roof experienced. Every property needs its own inspection.

Monument gets more snow than Colorado Springs - sometimes significantly more. The Tri-Lakes region is well known for getting hit hard when storms that barely dust the city pile up at elevation. Snow load matters for roofing - heavy wet snow puts stress on decking, flashing, and ridge lines that hail alone does not.
